Behavioral marketing or also known as behavioral targeting is a technique used by website publishers and advertisers that is aiming to develop their advertising methods through the information that was given by the behavior of how the user is using or browsing the internet. This allows for web developers to customize their websites so that more audiences will visit it causing the website more traffic. This advertising efforts will let you know how to target your customers who are specially interested in your products or services.

When a person is visiting a website, there are a lot of data that can be collected from that visitation. For instance, the number of times he or she visited the page, the amount of time he or she stayed on the page, the links he or she clicked.  As a businessman, you are the one who observes this behavior and have some analytics to analyze the data so that you will know how your visitors behaves.

Onsite versus Network behavioral marketing

There are two kinds of behavioral marketing and these are onsite and network behavioral marketing.

Onsite Behavioral marketing is an application for anything that can be found online. They can be very effective if it used and leveraged correctly.

On the other hand, network behavioral marketing is the one that is used by advertising networks. They used it in a different ways compared to those individual web sites. Network behavioral marketing serve many advertisement sites such as the social networking sites that includes Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This allow the data from one website to be sent to other companies’ website as well.  If you went to a website and found some cookies, then that website is using network behavioral marketing. Web beacons and other similar technologies and softwares are also use in collecting the data about the activity of the visitor.

Pros in Behavioral marketing

  1. Allows you to know your customer well

Knowing your customer is one of the things that a marketer should know. Why? Because it will help you grow your company. If you know your customer too well then you have the chance to develop your strategies that can attract more customers that are like them.

  1. Anticipate the needs and wants of your current clients

If you can anticipate the needs and wants of your current clients then you have the highest possibility to be able to connect it to the needs and wants of your future customers as well. This will help you in making your marketing decisions for the future of your company.

  1. Increase your productivity

When it is used correctly, behavioral marketing can cause an escalation of your productivity rate. Using this kind of marketing technique, you will know where to put your ads rather than posting it in general where you are only hoping that an interested person will come and view your site.

  1. Marketing research and New Innovations

You can do your marketing research using behavioral marketing. With this researches, it will allow you to know who usually buy your products or what kind of people are they and you can also innovate the things that are needed to be develop.
