Are you new to SEO? Here are some background about SEO and how important this is in Internet marketing. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization which the process of getting traffic from the free, organic, editorial, or natural search results on search engines.

Many of the major engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo have a primary search results which means that where the web pages and other content such as videos or local listings are shown and ranked according on what the search engine considered the most relevant to users. Payment is not involved even with paid search ads.

SEO is also an Internet marketing strategy which considered how search engines works, what people search for, the actual search term or keyword typed in to search engines and preferred by their targeted audience.

If you optimized a website, it may involved editing its content HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to more specifics keyword and allowed to removed the barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Another SEO tactic is to promote a site to increase the number of back links, or inbound links.

There are two major functions of search engines which are crawling and building an index, and providing search users with a list of the most relevant websites they have determined.

Crawling and indexing which functions is to allow links to reach the many billions of interconnected documents on the web. Once the engine finds the pages, they automatically decipher the code from them and select pieces of massive databases which recalled later when needed for a search query. When a person performed a search in any of the major engines, they will demand results instantaneously; even in a one or two-second delay can caused dissatisfaction, that’s why the engine work very hard to provide answers as fast as possible.

The second function is providing answers which also called the answer machines. When a person performs an online search, the search engine will automatically show billions of documents and it does two things: first, it will return to those results which are relevant or useful to the searchers’ query. Second, it will rank those results according to the most popular websites which served with the information. In short, it is both relevant and popularity that the process of SEO is meant to influence.

In addition, over 15+ years that web search has existed, search marketer have found methods to extract information about how the search engine rank pages. SEO and other marketers used that data to help their respective sites and their clients achieve better positioning.
